How to Access Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), Campaigns and Recalls in ProDemand

Before discussing how to find TSBs, campaigns and recalls in ProDemand, perhaps we should start by defining what each of the terms mean:

  • Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to advise technicians on how to fix the vehicle. TSBs are usually associated with common problems for that specific vehicle, often published to clarify frequently asked questions.
  • A recall is either issued by the OEM or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to repair something that is considered a safety issue. The OEM must alert customers and the OEM is responsible for fixing the issue.
  • A campaign is similar to a recall without the safety issue as a factor. The OEM does not have to communicate the campaign, leaving responsibility to the vehicle owner for awareness.

Now, here’s how to find them all in ProDemand:

The easiest way to find TSBs, recalls and campaigns in ProDemand is to use the Quick Links bar on the 1Search page.  After you’ve selected your vehicle, ProDemand will automatically navigate you to the 1Search module. Across the middle of the page, ProDemand displays the Quick Links bar to help you navigate to the most commonly looked up information for this vehicle. The TSB button is on the far right side of the Quick Links bar (see image below).

Upon clicking the TSB button, a page will open displaying a search bar at the top and a listing of categories underneath. All TSBs, campaigns, and recalls are included in the category listings. To navigate, you can either click through the category listings, or use the search to narrow your category listings and more directly find the document you are looking for (see below).

You can also link to campaigns and recalls by clicking the button found right alongside your chosen vehicle. At the top of the screen, after you’ve selected your vehicle, ProDemand displays the “RECALLS/CAMPAIGNS” button to the right of the current vehicle. By clicking this link, you’ll be shown a listing of all recalls and campaigns for the vehicle. This saves time by allowing you as a technician to immediately check for either a recall or campaign after identifying a vehicle. If there is a recall or campaign for the intended repair, you can send the customer to the dealer as the dealer is responsible for replacing that component at no cost to the customer (see below).

ProDemand also has automatically returns related TSBs when you look up a component, code or symptom. Simply look to the right of the tabs on the screen and if there is a relevant TSB, ProDemand will indicate it to you without your having to perform an additional TSB lookup (see below).
