2010 Chevrolet Equinox - P0172 AND POSSIBLE RUN ON AFTER SHUT OFF by greasybob at TJ's Auto and Collision Center

If you have a 2010 Equinox 2.4 direct injected with P0172 and complaint of vehicle continuing to run after the key is shut off, check the engine oil for gasoline contamination. If gas is found in the oil, the most likely source is a high pressure fuel pump that is leaking.

2000 Audi A6 Quattro - DRIVE PLATE MUST BE INDEXED IN CORRECT CKP POSITION by Rob Marlette at Boyick LLC

Indexing Audi 2.7 Flex plate on the Audi 00-02 A6 Quattro, S4 Sedan and 01-02 AllRoad...

If you forget to mark your drive-flex plate upon removal of an Audi 2.7l Turbo, you may have created yourself a problem. You have a one in five shot of indexing the long slot (CKP TDC window) in the correct place. If you miss, you will wind up setting CKP CMP correlation DTC's and win another shot at pulling the trans out again.

Audi online resources does not show a method of locating the correct CKP index location however it does tell you install tool 3242 to locate TDC then you provide the marks A & B... here is how to find the index point.

First of all, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOCATE TDC using the timing marks for the timing belt. When indexing the timing belt for installation/replacement you are actually setting up on #2 cylinder... NOT #1

Locate TDC by the front damper marks if visible or remove #1 spark plug while viewing down the plug hole and rotate the crankshaft until the piston rises to TDC.

Observe the top of the transmission housing where it bolts to the engine, you will notice a crescent shaped hole with a flat edge cast into the housing as if it was a timing mark (See Pic 1).

On the rear facing surface of the ring gear just below the teeth, you will find a "0" zero stamped right below one of the teeth of the gear. (See Pic 2).

Measure the distance from the bolt hole to the casting flat on the trans housing and transfer that distance to the back of the engine block and place the stamped "0" (of the flex plate) to approx line up where the timing mark would be and reinstall your flex plate.

This should place the long CKP TDC window @ the 6 and 7 o'clock positions (See Pic 3). You're done.

1999 Volkswagen Passat - OIL LIGHT FLASHES WITH ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT by BMWTECH554 at Eastgate Shell

Some Passats are known for ABS control module failures. If you happen to be tracing down a oil pressure warning lamp issue and there is an ABS/ brake light staring back at you. The culpret for the oil pressure warning could be the ABS module. If so, unplug the ABS module and start the vehicle. If the oil light stays out the ABS module is the cause. Make sure the ABS module is replaced with a new factory unit because vw has updated the units to fix this issue. Roughly $520 wholesale for the part. The dealer will also need the part number off off the hydralic unit to get you the proper module.

2007 Dodge Pickup R1500 - P3497 ON 2007 DODGE 1500 5.7 by Darth Maul at Tech Auto Service

Very common with P3497 (Cylinder Deactivation System B2) that one or both of the multi-displacement solenoids on that bank have gone bad. After removing the intake be very careful pulling up on the solenoids as they tend to break and cause you some headaches. Also clean and check the holes for foreign matter and possible metal chips from the old solenoids. There are four solenoids total (2 for bank 1 and 2 for bank 2). I recommend replacing both on the bank with the trouble code.
