DARRYL BROOKS AWARDED "EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR"

POWAY, California (August 2, 2001) - Darryl Brooks, a secondary school educator in automotive service technology, was named Educator of the Year at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) 2001 Conference held recently in Winnipeg, Canada. Mitchell Repair Signs Five Year Contract with Pep Boys for ON-DEMAND Software Installation

POWAY, California (April 10, 2001) - Mitchell Repair has signed a five-year contract with Pep Boys to install its ON-DEMAND repair information database on the company's private intranet, it was announced today by Ray Yankowski, vice president of corporate sales for Mitchell. The Mitchell Repair/Pep Boys contract represents the largest database installation of its kind for a major retail chain in the automotive after-warranty repair market.

Mitchell Repair's flagship product, ON-DEMAND, provides comprehensive repair information, from scheduled maintenance services to detailed diagnostic test procedures, for domestic and import cars and light trucks. The installation of the ON-DEMAND database will give Pep Boys' 628 service and retail locations in 36 states and Puerto Rico, convenient and easy access to repair information for virtually any vehicle on the road.

The entire Series is comprised of more than 100 shop management reports for sales, marketing, accounting and more.   • Add TSB Information to Repair Orders - A new TSB access button has been added to symptoms screen. This allows users to link out to on-demand and conduct a search of TSBs based upon category of symptoms selected in Series I/II.
  • Improved Promotional Tire Packages - Users can now transfer tires, brakes and/or lube/oil filter (LOF) packages and add user-customizable parts and labor packages to orders.
  • New Scheduled Services Database - Maintenance scheduled service information is now an integral part of Series I/II. Users can click the 30/60/90 Interval icon to view and select service maintenance information by mileage interval. Users can then transfer this data directly into the estimate or repair order.

Additional updates to Series l/ll, Version 4.4 include:

  • Improved Training Videos - A user invitation to view training videos at the beginning of every new session. A training video menu item has been added to the toolbar which links directly to the list of training videos topic in the Series Help file.
  • Easy to Use "One Start" Toolbar - An optional "one start" toolbar replaces the customary estimate, order and invoice icons which allows users to look up a customer by name, phone number, or license number, or quickly enter new customer data as needed.
  • Improved Program Navigation - Enhanced focus highlighting makes it easier to spot the currently selected button or text box and allows users to navigate within the program better.
  • Improved Recommendations - Working within the revisions and recommendations section, Series now displays a dialog box (when recommendations are present), advising users to selectively edit or delete any recommendations, once a sub-estimate (revision) is being transferred.
  • Search By VIN - The vehicle screen now includes powertrain (engine/fuel/etc) field and revised VIN field. A VIN field has also been added to F3 "find customer screen. Technicians must use the entire VIN number or the last 6-8 digits.
  • Improved Payment Correction - The payment history section now includes a delete payment button, making payment correction much easier.
  • Easily Delete Old Estimates - Purge estimates button have been added to the work-in -progress section which gives Series customers a fast, user-definable utility to delete estimates with a single decision instead of deleting old estimates one at a time.
  • Share Canned Jobs - Series now has the ability to export and import canned jobs. Multiple location chains can use the feature to standardize a promotional price structure. These options appear on the utilities menu.
  • Internet Access - An Internet access button has been added, providing quick access to the Mitchell Repair web site.
  • Saved Customer Email Address - Users can now add a customer's E-mail access in the customer screen.
  • Revisions Option "Received E-mail" - In the called (for revision) phone field, users can select "customer called in" or "received E-mail" from the options list.
